Most fly tiers have problems of one sort or another and during these Courses Mick will instruct you on how
to tie more effective flies that are properly balanced so that they will sit right, fish right, or swim right.
Some of the problems and new flytying techniques we can attend to on the days for Freshwater are:
1.
Hackling in all forms, from standard collar hackling through to Para loops and Parachute hackles.
2.
Various dubbing techniques.
3.
Methods for creating splayed or standard straight tails.
4.
Effective ways for handling deer hair and creating deer hair Emergers, Muddler Minnows or bullet-head methods for hoppers
or Marabou Muddlers.
All
of the problem methods and new techniques explained will be videoed and enlarged by the use of a television screen to enhance
the feature being demonstrated and to ensure that all of those participating can achieve the most from these Courses.
Saltwater: These Courses are run separately from the
Freshwater days. They feature examples of:
1.
Multi layering as used on streamer style flies such as Surf Candies.
2.
Epoxy work, creating bulk without weight, plus effective eye catching heads.
3.
Tips on how to make more durable flies for toothy fish.
The list can go on but it is your problems we are endeavouring to solve. The basis for these
Courses is simple, you supply the problem and we endeavour to fix it for you.
It should be noted that each Course has a limited number of only six seats. We have
designed it this way on purpose so that you can get the most out of such a Course.
Apart
from showing you ways to help solve some of your tying problems, Mick will also assess your tying skills to help you improve
your skill levels so that you can tie better flies.
This
is really a unique opportunity that is a cost effective way to enhance your fly tying skills, and at the same time solving
a number of those niggling problems that hinder most fly tiers.
So
if you are interested in participating, contact Mick and if possible, take time to put together a list of the problems you
would like to see highlighted during the Course.
Bunkhouse
accommodation from as little as $16.00 per person per night can be arranged, or if required, Motel or self-contained cabins
can be booked for you if you plan to stay over.
Please note: If you have never tied flies
before, this Course is not for you, but if you would like to get into flytying then contact Mick for there are many ways we
can help you.
These
flytying days are kindly sponsored by Mustad and their new range of Signature Series fly tying hooks. Thanks to Mustad, through
these Courses we are in a position to supply free of charge all the hooks needed on each day.
