Why Choose Blackridge Fly Fishing School?

At Blackridge we have learnt that most of those who enquire about our fly fishing Courses do so for two very important reasons:

Firstly, because those just taking up fly fishing need answers to questions, the most common being:

"Will I be able to master fly fishing, there is so much to learn?"

Secondly, because there are those who are already enjoying the art of fly fishing, yet feel the need to take their skills to the next level.

The answer to these questions is simply, YES, YOU CAN DO IT, because all you really need is expert tuition and confidence.

At Blackridge Flyfishing School our exclusive "How To Do It" program has been developed by champion anglers who have the experience and have earned their credibility. (A detailed profile of the Champions is available on request).

These confidence-building Courses cover all aspects of fishing with a fly and are explained simply, clearly and patiently.

Set your own goals to achieve any level you wish.  Through our unique "How To Do It" programs, it is possible for even the novice to learn how to:

  • Select the right gear, correctly assemble and maintain it
  • Tie the most effective knots, rigs and leaders
  • Be able to put your fly where you want and when you want to
  • Learn what fly to use and when
  • Master short line presentation
  • Cast your fly to where it is most likely to catch a fish
  • Read streams by using our unique colour recognition program
  • Learn fly fishing techniques that will catch fish
  • Tie a fly that can catch fish
  • Take and develop your skills to the next level.

At Blackridge Flyfishing School we guarantee you will develop the confidence and develop the necessary skills that frequently catch fish, because our combined qualifications prove we can stand behind our slogan like no others can -

"where EXPERIENCE & CREDIBILITY excel"

When you add all these benefits up it simply makes sense to learn to:

SMALL MOUNTAIN STREAMS A SPECIALITY

One of our key specialities is advanced small stream river craft.  The secret to successfully fishing this type of water is in improving your short line casting and delivery techniques, which include casting practices such as upstream mending on delivery, chopping flies under brush covered pockets, reach casting, snake casts, bow and arrow casting, flick casts and long arm fly control.

We also show you how to achieve mid water drift control with sunken wet flies and general fly management in rough water conditions, master pocket fishing, plus read small streams by using colour reflections and understand where trout lie and, most importantly, why.
